Who Is The Course Intended For?

Members of the public and healthcare professionals who wish to gain the knowledge and skills to enable themselves to deliver their own CFR courses.

Course Objectives

On completion of this course, participants will be able:

  • deliver accurate and effective CFR training courses
  • Recognise the signs of a life-threatening emergency
  • Respond in an effective, safe and appropriate manner, to a life-threatening emergency, utilising basic life support skills
  • Retrieve and appropriately use, if required, an automated external defibrillator during a cardiac arrest
  • Report and Record their actions and interventions appropriately and handover to emergency medical services.
Entry Requirements

The minimum age for entry to a CFR Instructor Community course is 18. Certification in CFR Community within the last 12 months. Certification in First Aid Response is also acceptable.

Accreditation

On successful completion of this course participants will receive a Pre-Hospital Emergency Care Council (PHECC) First Aid Response Certificate which is valid for 2 years.

PHECC are the regulator for emergency medical services (EMS) in Ireland and their role is to protect the public. The Pre-Hospital Emergency Care Council (PHECC) is an independent statutory agency with responsibility for standards, education and training in the field of pre-hospital emergency care. PHECC also maintain a statutory register of EMS practitioners.
