The Chris Mee Safety Engineering Manual Handling Instructor training courses prepare trainees to become full Manual Handling instructors.  Our course duration is 5 days and is QQI approved.  We have been successfully delivering these courses for nearly 20 years.  We have venues in Dublin, Cork, Limerick as well as online delivery.

IT requirements for our WEBINARS are as follows: Laptop, Full name, contact number and email address of learner.  We recommend use of Google Chrome™ 5.0 or newer web browser.  You will require Reliable Internet Access; Audio (headphones or speakers); Microphone and a webcam.  Please test your connectivity prior to the course.  Please link in at least 10 minutes before the webinar.  Training will be hosted through MS Teams.  An invitation is sent to each attendee.

Duration: 5 Days

Assessment: 3 components
Accreditation: QQI Level 6 Component Certificate in Manual Handling Instruction 6N0233. Visit the QQI website

Course Objectives

When the course is complete you will be able to:
  • Assess the danger or safety of manual handling tasks
  • Recommend measures to prevent risk of injury
  • Lift and handle loads safely
  • Identify ergonomic risks and recommend control measures
  • Instruct others on the theory and techniques of safe manual handling

Target Audience

The aim of this QQI Level 6 Manual Handling Instructor course is to provide the learner with the key knowledge. As well as the skill and competence to design and deliver manual handling instruction in their workplace.

Course Contents

Topics covered include:
  • 1st DAY  – Unit 1 – Legal requirements and Manual Handling management
  • 2nd DAY  – Unit 2 – Anatomy and back care
  • 3rd DAY  – Unit 3 – Ergonomic principles and risk assessment
  • 4th DAY – Unit 4 – Planning and design of manual handling training programmes
  • 4th DAY – Unit 5 – Delivery of manual handling training
  • 5th DAY  – Assessments
