Farmers urged to think ‘SAFE’ as slurry spreading period approaches
“Stop and think ‘SAFE’ before you mix slurry.”
Midnight on January 31st is the begining of 2021 slurry season. The warning from HSENI comes as the mixing of slurry has many risks due to it’s production of a dangerous mixture of gases, including methane, carbon monoxide, ammonia, and the extremely poisonous gas, hydrogen sulphide.
