As is sadly too often the case, in Ireland, things aren’t always done by the book. This photo was taken outside an office building in Cork, where two workers attempt to change a lightbulb.

A ladder is perched on a pallet that has been elevated to the maximum height of the forklift below – not exactly a textbook method of changing a bulb located a fair distance up a light pole.

Last year, 48 people lost their lives in the workplace, and statistics up to Nov 25th this year have recorded 43 workplace fatalities.
