Course Overview

The NEBOSH International Certificate in Construction Health and Safety is a qualification for those in the international construction industry outside of Ireland and the UK. The International Construction Certificate is designed for supervisors and managers within the international construction industry and is designed to provide a sound breadth of underpinning knowledge that enables them to discharge more effectively their duties with respect to health and safety in construction activities.

Target Audience

Those who have the responsibility for ensuring safety as part of their day to day duties, including:

  • Managers;
  • Supervisors;
  • Employee representatives;
  • Newly appointed Health and Safety Advisers

Students should already have an underpinning knowledge of safety issues and may already have studied one of NEBOSH’s Certificate-level qualifications

Pre-course requirements

Ideally candidates attending the course will have knowledge of construction sector or an underpinning knowledge of safety issues and may already have studied one of NEBOSH’s Certificate-level qualifications .

Course Contents

The course consists of 3 units:

  • Unit IGC1 Management of international health and safety
  • Unit ICC 1 Management and control of hazards in international construction activities
  • Unit ICC 2: International Construction Health & Safety Practical application

Unit IGC1 is common to the NEBOSH International General Certificate in Occupational Health & Safety.   Any attendees who have already successfully passed IGC1 within the previous five years do not need to re-sit this unit or its assessment .

Managing and controlling hazards in international construction activities (ICC 1)

  • Construction management
  • Construction activities hazards and control
  • Movement of people and vehicles – hazards and control
  • Manual and mechanical handling – hazards and control
  • Work equipment – hazards and control
  • Electrical hazards and control
  • Fire hazards and control
  • Chemical and biological health hazards and control
  • Physical and psychological health hazards and control
  • Working at height – hazards and control
  • Excavation work and confined spaces – hazards and control
  • Demolition hazards and control

International Construction Health & Safety Practical application (ICC 2)

This is a practical construction safety assessment of a workplace.   Delegates must achieve the pass standard in in the practical assessment to be awarded the International Certificate.
