Heart Saver Automated External Defibrillator (AED) Course
 
Prepare for emergencies with CMSE`s Heart Saver AED course on emergency cardiovascular care, cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs). This half-day course is very intensive and involves small groups of no more than six participants.

Target Audience

Responders such as police, airline personnel, security personnel, corporate employees, family members of patients at high risk for sudden cardiac death, other rescuers, and those who need or want to learn CPR and how to operate an AED.

Course Technical Details

Course Title: Heart Saver AED

The Heart Saver AED Course teaches the basic techniques of adult CPR and how to use an AED. Students also learn about using barrier devices in CPR and giving first aid for choking.

Participants will learn:

  • To recognise the signs and symptoms of four major emergencies
  • The correct operation of the AED machine
  • When it is appropriate to use an AED machine

The course teaches how to recognise the signs of four major emergencies:

  • Heart attack
  • Stroke
  • Cardiac arrest
  • Foreign-body airway obstruction

Accreditation

Candidates take a pre and post multiple choice questionnaire and practical.  A full Irish Heart Foundation/American Heart Association course completion card (valid for two years) is issued on successful completion of the course.
