This two-day course is designed to equip managers and supervisors with the key information necessary to manage health and safety within their organisation on a day- to day basis.
Line managers, supervisors, and senior managers who wish to gain a better understanding of health & safety in the workplace.
Common Law / 2005 Safety, Health & Welfare at Work Act / 2007 General Applications Regulations and other relevant areas of legislation. (Focus on Employer & Employee Responsibility).
Hazard Identification & Risk Assessment
Theoretical and Practical Session; emphasis is placed on the need to identify workplace hazards accurately, assess the level of risk and implement adequate control measures.
Safety Management Philosophy and Systems
This section will review safety management versus risk management, safety management legislation, the risk management approach and also detailing the principle of ALARP. This section also covers the different safety management systems that can be implemented in the management of safety in the workplace.
Accident Investigation & Reporting
This section focuses on the real cost of accidents to organisations and deals with the responsibility of management to investigate root causes in order to eliminate or reduce the risk of recurrence. (Syndicate exercise included)
Safety Statement Review
Theory and practical session where the contents of the safety statement are outlined, with a focus on how it is communicated to the workforce, and how the manager is involved in communication process.
Role of the Manager/Supervisor
In this section, emphasis is put on the importance of the managers/supervisors role in managing safety in the workplace.
Workshops on Risk Assessment, Accident Investigation and Safety Statement.
Up to 12 participants
A pre and post graded multiple choice questionnaire will be presented to candidates.
Full CMSE certification is provided on successful completion of the course.
