Forklift Instructor Training Course

Course details

This highly sought after course is suitable for experienced and certificated drivers who wish to qualify to instructor level.   On successful completion of the course participants can register as IIPMM (Irish Institute of Purchasing and Materials Management) Instructors and are also permitted to oversee examinations and subsequently issue IIPMM certificates.

The course takes place over 10 day days and the programme requires significant study. The ideal candidate should have sufficient experience and skill in operating a forklift truck and be confident of his/her course delivery skills.  The course is externally examined by an IIPMM examiner.

The aim of this course is to give participants the skills and knowledge required to instruct others in the safe operation of forklift trucks.

Objectives

On completion of this course participants will be able to:

Explain the practical implications of Irish Health & Safety Legislation, particularly as it applies to the operation & use of forklift trucks
Plan, prepare and present forklift instruction
Demonstrate and describe safe operating practice
Conduct and mark theoretical and practical tests
Issue operator certificates to IIPMM standards

Who should attend?


Potential candidates must be highly skilled operators and have broad experience along with formal training in operating the type of truck on which they are expected to instruct e.g. Counterbalance or Reach.

Pre-Course requirements

  • Candidates must have a current and valid Forklift operators certificate and must have received formal operator refresher training within the 12 months prior to attending the Forklift Instructor course
  • Candidates must have several years Forklift driving experience

    Assessment/Certification

     


    Participants complete a theoretical and practical exam. On successful completion of the exam participants are awarded an IIPMM Forklift Instructor Certificate.
